On Friday, November 17, 2012, at approximately 4:30pm, Jacoby Miles, one of our level 9 gymnasts sustained a serious neck injury while performing a routine maneuver on the uneven bars. She was transported to St. Joe’s via ambulance and later taken to Harborview Medical Center, where she underwent surgery. In addition to your thoughts and prayers, we ask you to consider donating to Jacoby’s recovery fund. This will be a very expensive and long term process and will not be possible without the help of many hands. An effort has been coordinated with gyms throughout the country to support Jacoby both morally and financially. On the same day of the accident, Melanie Roach’s new book “Lift: Enjoying the Journey of Life”, was released on Amazon.com. Melanie has committed to give 100% of book sale profits to aid in Jacoby’s recovery and ongoing expenses. Roach Gymnastics is also accepting contributions on behalf of Jacoby as well as the above website. Please consider donating and asking friends and family to get involved.
Efforts are currently underway to provide counseling for the girls, coaches and parents. Details will be updated here as soon as it is scheduled. This is a time to pull together. Please join us by praying for Jacoby and her family. With God, all things are possible.
